MS2131 USB 3.0 HD Audio/Video Capture Processor

The MacroSilicon MS2131 is a USB 3.0 HD video and audio acquisition and processing chip. It integrates a USB 3.0 Device controller, data transceiver, and audio/video processing blocks, allowing HD input audio/video to be previewed or captured on PCs, smartphones, and tablets over USB 3.0.

Compared with the entry MS2130, MS2131 adds HD loop-out, two I2S inputs, two I2S outputs, one SPDIF output, and audio mixing, making it suitable for USB capture devices that need local display loop-out and external digital-audio interfaces.

Design Notes

  • MS2131 supports up to 3840 × 2160 @ 30Hz on HD input/loop-out, while the default maximum USB output is 1920 × 1080 @ 60Hz; these are different bandwidth levels.
  • USB output formats are listed as YUV422 and MJPEG. Compare MS2130S / MS2131S if RGB24, NV12, or higher USB-side 4K output capability is required.
  • When using HD loop-out, validate EDID, HPD, source format, and display compatibility.
