MacroSilicon HD 2.0 Products and MS8003 HDCP 2.x Key Storage
Some MacroSilicon HD 2.0 designs that implement HDCP 2.x content protection do not embed HDCP 2.x key storage in the main IC. An external MS8003 secure storage device is required to hold HDCP 2.x keys. Confirm BOM, reference design, and key programming flow before hardware bring-up and mass production.
Models that require MS8003
The following models typically need an external MS8003 for HDCP 2.x key storage in HD 2.0 applications:
| Model | Series / role | Documentation |
|---|---|---|
| MS1827 | Video processing, 4×4 4K matrix | Video Processing |
| MS9342 | HD 2.0 distribution (detail page pending) | Video Distribution |
| MS9344 | HD 2.0 1×4 splitter, HDCP 1.4/2.3 | Video Distribution |
| MS9354 | Matrix / switching distribution | Video Distribution |
| MS2132 | USB 3.0 HD video capture | Video Capture |
| MS2133 | USB 3.0 HD AV capture and processing | Video Capture |
Port topology, HDCP version combinations, and key counts must be verified against MacroSilicon datasheets, reference designs, and licensing documents.
MS9133 does not need MS8003
MS9133 also supports HD 2.0 output (up to 3840 × 2160 @ 60Hz) as a USB 3.0 display bridge IC. It does not require an external MS8003 for HDCP 2.x key storage. Do not apply the MS8003 requirement from the table above to MS9133.
Design notes
- BOM check: Confirm MS8003 placement, routing, power, and programming access during schematic review and prototyping.
- Compliance: HDCP 2.x involves content-protection licensing and key management; production must meet applicable requirements.
- Documentation: Capabilities and reference designs may be updated on the vendor site; follow the latest MacroSilicon releases for your SKU.
